Swirge CEO Jay shares his thoughts looking back at 2020 and our goals for the new year, and areas of focus for 2021.
Dear Swirgers,
It’s been a year, irrespective of the 2020 huddles and challenges we all came through.
Last year we hosted our very first virtual conference, called Swirge Amazed Developer Conference 2020 (SADC2020), which hosted Swirge and other amazing blockchain and cryptocurrency companies from Africa and Awesome speakers from all over the world.
Swirge went through two new design interactions in 2020. We stuck with the current one due to its clean UI and positive feedback from the community on its friendly User Experience.
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live, it impacted the well-being of countless individuals and damage the global economy.
In 2020, there was an unprecedented increase in volatility and instability in already-vulnerable economies and countries. With uncertainties, inflation, and traditional assets suffering due to the shock caused by the pandemic, people around the world looked to bitcoin and crypto as an alternative asset — in an unprecedented manner. During the global lockdown, Swirge had its first 1000 active users and registered over 15,000 account signups, this was a period we had to build to accommodate the massive inflow of daily active users and also build a platform that will reward users for their activities on Swirge and help ease the negative financial effects caused by the global lockdown.
We want to say a big thank you to all frontline workers, the government, and every person or entity that is helping to tackle this issue.
Last year was impressive for all of us at Swirge we exceeded our expectations, Registered over 40,000 active users and over 100,000 Swerves were created.
We migrated the entire Swirge platform over to Binance Smart Chain, a decentralized blockchain built by the team at Binance that enables cheaper, fast, and secure transactions on the blockchain. Binance Smart Chain or BSC for short is Ethereum Virtual Machine compatible, this enabled us to easily deploy our Smart contracts and move over.
Swirge now supports an inbuilt BNB crypto wallet for you to hold, receive and send Binance Coin BNB and Swirge Coin SWGb.
Last year we also launched our very own cryptocurrency called Swirge Coin SWG, together with the help of our partners Justliquidity we launched a presale for our cryptocurrency which we raised a total of $160,000 in Ethereum ETH.
With the help of our Partners at Justliquidity, we launched Swirge Coin SWG on Binance Smart Chain with the ticker SWGb, this enables fast, cheap, and secure transactions on the blockchain. 2020 was impressive, it paved way for greater things ahead to come this 2021.
This year we have scheduled a series of new products to be added to the Swirge platform. More real-world solutions and utility products.
And quite some exciting announcements will be made this January 2021.
We will be adding local currency deposits to the Swirge platform as a feature of our Swirge Pay product, to facilitate cheap, fast, and secure transactions starting with the Nigerian Naira NGN this January.
With Swirge you are in complete control over your account data, privacy, and finance.
We will be launching Swirge crypto Staking this year and will introduce Swirge SWG crypto burning programs.
We’ve got a pile of partnership announcements and many more.
